CUNEF Universidad hosts a workshop on corporate finance

June 7, 2024

Last June 7, CUNEF Universidad hosted the “Workshop on Current Topics in Corporate Finance”, with the participation of almost 60 international researchers from Spain, France, Germany, Italy and Mexico. The workshop was jointly organised by professors from CUNEF Universidad, ECSP Business School and Toulouse Business School (TBS) and was attended by speakers from institutions such as the University of Notre Dame, HEC Paris, the University of Manchester, the University of Zurich, IWH Halle and KU Leuven.

During the event, participants presented their research papers on green finance and investment in technological improvements. These empirical studies focus on problems related to asset management, financial analysis, banking supervision and corporate and household investment.

Regarding green finance, the studies conclude that companies’ environmental reputation influences the decisions of asset managers and financial analysts who, given their ability to impact stock market values, play an important role in the integration of ESG aspects in the companies under their influence. As for technological improvements, the studies conclude that (i) innovation in banking supervision via the implementation of advanced deep learning  models has a positive impact on credit allocation by the banking industry and that (ii) liquidity constraints for SMEs and households hinder their ability to invest in digitalisation and energy efficiency, respectively, so public programs aimed at easing these constraints could have a positive impact on business digitalisation and household energy efficiency.
