The Chair of the European Banking Authority gives a conference on “European banking: simplifying to support growth”
March 11, 2025
Last Tuesday, 11 March, over 100 CUNEF Universidad students and professors attended the conference "European banking: simplifying to support growth", by José Manuel Campa, Chair of the European Banking Authority. During the session, organised by the Spanish Banking and Finance Institute in the Auditorium of CUNEF Universidad, the speaker highlighted the following key insights:
- The European Banking Authority (EBA) is an independent EU body that aims to ensure an efficient, transparent and stable single banking services market in Europe, as well as to ensure free movement of capital.
- The EBA is also responsible for regulating and supervising convergence with national supervisors, assessing the stability of the banking sector and ensuring greater transparency.
- Beyond regulation, future challenges for the EBA involve the single market, technology and the possible migration to other sectors that may accumulate risks (non-bank institutions).
- The financial sector offers attractive job prospects for university students because it is a global industry that combines technology and innovation and increasingly demands technological knowledge and the ability to apply it to provisions.
