PhD: Universidad Autónoma de Madrid
Biography
Samuel Ranz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at CUNEF Universidad. He obtained his DPhil under the supervision of Profs. Francisco Presas and Lauran Toussaint in 2024. His thesis, on three-dimensional foliations, gives an innovative proof of Novikov's Theorem, a classical result in topology. His interests encompass the flavours of the h-principle, differential topology in general, and algebraic topology. He is curious about algebraic geometry and differential equations. He is also passionate about teaching and finding topology behind the results in other areas. He is a member of the Royal Spanish Mathematical Society, the Spanish Topology Network, and the London Mathematical Society.
