The School of Engineering kicks off its conference cycle with a talk on open data

The Head of Open Data of the City Council of Madrid, Enrique Crespo, opened the conference cycle the School of Engineering of CUNEF Universidad last Wednesday, 8 February. In his talk “Visualize Madrid with Open Data”, Enrique Crespo addressed the students to explain concepts like active advertising and access to public information, as well as the potential of using open data portals as a resource for their Final Degree Projects, Final Dissertations and their courses in general.

After a brief introduction, Enrique Crespo showed students how to browse through the open data portals of the local and regional governments of Madrid, and of the national government. Specifically, he stressed the importance and benefits of data visualizations for companies, freelancers and entrepreneurs; researchers and scientists; journalists; students; and the administration itself. The event concluded with a closing speech by the Director of the School of Engineering, Victoria López.

The School of Engineering will host its next lecture on Friday, 10 February, and the speaker will be Ana Gómez Blanco, Cybersecurity Senior Manager at BBVA.
